Fred's deployment

Fred has been gone 67 days. He left on August 18, 2009. He probably will be home around the 8th of December.
So far he his boat has stopped at Bahrain, Dubai and Jordan. While in port he was able to explore the city a bit.

Fred's visit to Dubai in his own words:
"The water park I went to didn’t have much to do and it was kinda of expensive (240 Durham which is about $60-70). After the water park we went to the Dubai mall which is the world’s largest mall. It was 4 stories, had an ice scatting rink, a 6 story tall water fall inside, and was just huge. They also have a water show on the big pool they have outside, similar to the one at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Oh I saw the hotel shaped like a sail, and the water park was on the man made islands that look like palm trees. I really like this city. "

He went on a tour in Jordan. In his own words:
"
My tour was great. We saw the Nabatean city and tombs that were carved into the walls of the mountains. The area was a center of trade and inhabited from 400 bc to 700 ad. They had some camels and donkeys you could ride. I didn’t because I didn’t think the experience would be much different than riding a horse. It took us 2 hours by bus to get to the site. From there it was a 2 mile walk down hill to see the treasury (which was actually a tomb). The treasury was what was featured in the Indiana Jones movie."

Here is a pic of Fred (on the right) from the boat. Another pilot took it and sent it to Fred.
